Nigeria’s Flamingos stand on the brink of history as they face Brazil in the semi-final of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2026 on Wednesday, November 4, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat.

Kick-off is set for 18:00 local time (19:00 WAT). The winner books a place in the final for the first time in either nation’s history at this tournament.

This is the third meeting between the sides at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. They drew 2-2 in 2008 and Brazil won 1-0 in 2016. Nigeria have never beaten the South Americans at this level.

Overall, the Flamingos reached the semi-finals once before, claiming bronze in India 2022 after losing to Colombia. Brazil’s best previous finish was fourth in 2025. Neither has ever contested the final.

Nigeria’s form in Morocco has been impressive after a rocky start. The Flamingos lost 2-1 to Poland in their opener, then bounced back with a 2-0 win over Puerto Rico, a stunning 3-1 victory over defending champions DPR Korea, a 2-1 triumph against Mexico in the round of 16, and a dramatic 1-0 quarter-final win over Venezuela via an 89th-minute Azeezat Oduntan penalty. That run of four straight wins has them in the last four for only the second time.

Brazil arrive undefeated. They topped Group C with a 6-2 thrashing of Canada, a 3-3 draw with Ghana and a 3-0 win over Norway. In the knockout stages they survived a 3-3 thriller against Poland (winning 8-7 on penalties) before coming from behind to beat China 2-1 in the quarter-finals, with Helena scoring both goals. Nine different Brazilian players have found the net, underlining their attacking depth.

Star players will decide this one. For Nigeria, watch Oluebube Umejiaku, the lively forward who has been among the top scorers and won the penalty against Venezuela. Captain Azeezat Oduntan delivers in big moments, while goalkeeper Jane Ijirigho has been solid and midfielder Favour Nkwocha provides energy.

Brazil’s danger comes from Greise Kelly, the creative force with three goals and a tournament-high five assists, and Helena, whose double against China was decisive. Goalkeeper Nathy has also been busy with a high save count.

Flamingos coach Akeem Busari has praised his side’s fighting spirit. After the Venezuela win he said: “We gave everything on the pitch tonight. We kept pushing until the end. Reaching the semi-finals is a dream come true for me and a great achievement. I’m looking forward to it because I want to make my country proud. We want to give our best in the next match and show everyone what we can do.” He has repeatedly called his players “gladiators” for their never-say-die attitude.

Brazil coach Rilany Silva expects a physical battle. “I’m expecting an extremely difficult match. Nigeria are a very physical team. By the 90th minute, they’ll probably still be running as if it were the fifth. We’ll need to be very strategic with our game plan to find ways to hurt Nigeria,” she told FIFA.

Umejiaku has highlighted the team’s unity as a key strength: “I’m so happy. I’m very proud of my team – we’re very good. I love my teammates so much... our togetherness is very important.”

The clash pits Brazil’s flair and depth against Nigeria’s resilience, pace and belief. For the Flamingos, victory would rewrite history and set up a shot at the ultimate prize. All eyes on Rabat as the green-and-white chase a first FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final.
