Former Super Eagles defender, Eric Ejiofor has thrown his support behind Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle’s decision to invite home-based players for the team’s upcoming off-season friendlies.
“It is an opportunity to see this new players in every position,” Ejiofor posited.
“We will use this friendly to test and identify good players. We will see if they can fit into the team.
“The core of the Super Eagles is aging, so we need younger players with whom the Coach can effect the transition we need.”
Ejiofor also highlighted what opportunity the friendlies presents for new goalkeeper, Arthur Okonkwo.

“It’s also an opportunity to see Arthur Okonkwo, and what he can bring into the team.”
Meanwhile, Chelle has reiterated his intention to closely monitor home-based players ahead of squad selection.
The Super Eagles coach emphasized that only the best performers will earn a place in the Unity Cup squad.
