Another Defense Disaster from Chelsea as Hull City Remain Unbeaten

Chelsea continued their chaotic start under Xabi Alonso as Hull City fought back from an early deficit to earn a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge, with Mohamed Belloumi scoring twice in six minutes to expose the Blues' defensive problems.

Chelsea looked on course for another comfortable home victory after Morgan Rogers opened the scoring inside seven minutes.

Instead, two defensive mistakes allowed Belloumi to turn the game around before João Pedro rescued a point in the second half.

The draw leaves Alonso facing further questions about Chelsea's defensive organisation.

Rogers gives Chelsea perfect start

Chelsea continued their habit of scoring early when Rogers put them ahead after just seven minutes.

Cole Palmer fed João Pedro, who swivelled before finding Morgan Rogers in space on the left.

The winger skipped around Regan Slater before drilling his effort beyond Konstantinos Tzolakis at the near post.

It looked like the beginning of another controlled Chelsea performance.

Instead, their defensive problems resurfaced almost immediately.

Belloumi turns the game upside down

Hull's equaliser arrived in the 28th minute after a series of errors at the back.

Malo Gusto hesitated when dealing with a long ball into the corner before failing to properly prevent Ryan Giles from sending the ball into the box.

Jorrel Hato then appeared caught between attacking the cross and dropping back. He did neither, allowing the ball to bounce over him and into the path of Belloumi.

The Algerian winger made no mistake, hammering the ball into the net for his first Premier League goal.

Moments later, Emiliano Martínez produced a good low save to deny Giles, but Hull kept coming.

Semi Ajayi headed the resulting corner against the bar with Martínez struggling to deal with the situation.

The rebound fell to Belloumi, whose driven effort took a deflection and flew past the helpless goalkeeper.

In the space of six minutes, Belloumi had turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 Hull lead.

Chelsea's Defence Exposed Again

The two goals highlighted the growing concerns around Alonso's defence.

Chelsea had now conceded

12 goals in Alonso's five-and-a-half matches in charge;

with mistakes at the back repeatedly undoing their work in attack.

Their midfield also became increasingly open, while misplaced passes and mistimed attacking runs prevented Chelsea from maintaining their early control.

Hull, meanwhile, sensed an opportunity to produce another major upset.

João Pedro Rescues Chelsea

Chelsea needed their attacking players to save them, and once again Palmer proved decisive.

After Hull lost Nobel Mendy following a clash of heads while bravely preventing a certain goal for Pedro at the back post, Chelsea pushed forward in search of an equaliser.

Reece James came close when his free-kick struck the post.

Martínez then survived an uncomfortable moment at the other end after spilling a straightforward Regan Slater effort.

He recovered quickly enough to toe the rebound away from Oli McBurnie but Chelsea finally found their breakthrough in the second half.

Palmer made a clever run to the byline before cutting the ball back into the box.

João Pedro was waiting in space and hammered the finish into the roof of the net to make it 2-2.

His good form continued as he once again provided a crucial goal for Chelsea when they needed it most.

Both sides chase a Dramatic Winner

The final stages became an end-to-end contest.

Palmer found Rogers with a slick pass behind the Hull defence, but Tzolakis came off his line to smother the attempt.

Hull then had an excellent opportunity to steal all three points.

Substitute Mohamed-Ali Cho found himself in a dangerous position and looked set to win it for the visitors, but Martínez reacted quickly and dived at his feet to make the save.

Earlier, Martínez had also been forced into action after Belloumi's second goal, while Hull continued to threaten whenever Chelsea's defensive structure broke down.

Neither side could find a decisive third goal.

For Hull, however, the point extends an unbeaten start to the season is another statement of their ability to compete at the highest level.

Belloumi's six-minute double gave them the advantage, but Chelsea's inability to protect their own goal remains the biggest talking point from another frustrating night at Stamford Bridge.
