Former Super Eagles and Real Betis midfielder, Nosa Igiebor has admitted he underestimated Ademola Lookman following the forward’s move to Atletico Madrid.
Igiebor revealed that he initially doubted Lookman’s ability to adapt to the demands of Spanish football but has since been proven wrong by the winger’s outstanding performances.
“To be honest, I am really surprised it’s a confession. When I saw the transfer, I told someone I didn’t think Lookman would do well in the Spanish league because I know how difficult it is.
“But I must admit, he has really surprised me. His transformation and consistency scoring game after game I take back my words. This guy has truly impressed me,” Igiebor said.
Drawing from his own experience playing in Spain, Igiebor highlighted the challenges of adapting to the league but praised Lookman’s growth and quality.

“I played in that league, and I understand how tough it can be. Seeing what he is doing now shows how much he has improved. I am really happy for him,” he added.

Lookman has enjoyed a strong start to life in Spain, making 18 appearances across all competitions for Atletico Madrid.
