Rasheedat Ajibade scored a 14-minute, first-half hat-trick to fire Nigeria past Senegal 3-0, and book a semi-final ticket in the WAFU Women’s Cup of Nations on Saturday.
Rasheedat scored in the 22nd, 32nd and 36th minutes to stun the Teranga Lionesses, who had cantered Togo 6-0.
With Saturday’s victory, Nigeria secured maximum points from the two group matches played and advance to the last four – the first team in the tournament.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Burkina Faso held their nerve, netting a last-minute equaliser in a 1–1 draw with WAFU Women’s Cup hosts Ivory Coast to set up a thrilling final round in Group A.
The draw leaves Ghana’s hopes of advancing to the knockouts hanging by a thread despite their emphatic win in Friday’s opening clash.
Ghana sent Niger packing with a 9–0 hammering to clinch their first victory after falling to Ivory Coast in their tournament opener.
