Viktoria Plzeň sporting director Martin Vozábal expressed confidence in the signing, believing Lawal will add quality and competition to the squad’s attacking options:
“After Rafiu Durosinmi left, we wanted to increase competition in our attacking options, and that is exactly what Salim Fago Lawal brings. We have been following him in the Croatian league.

“He is a quick, versatile player who can operate both as a striker and on the wing. I’m pleased we were able to complete the transfer and that he will be available for the start of the league this weekend.”
Lawal was part of Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 squad, featuring in one match as the Super Eagles went on to secure the bronze medal at the tournament.
