Striker Ifeoma Onumonu says the Super Falcons must work very hard if they are to make it out of their World Cup group.
Nigeria had a promising start to their campaign in Australia, forcing Canada to a draw at the Rectangular Stadium on Thursday.
Currently third in the standings, behind Australia and Canada, the Super Falcons go into their second group game against the Matildas as underdogs, but a win over the co-hosts would boost their chances of going through.
“In this group, every game is going to be hard,” Onumonu told NFF TV. “I think, watching (Australia’s) game with Ireland, they put up a good fight and they ended up winning with a penalty.
“So clearly, it’s not as clear-cut as some might have thought it would be.”
Super Falcons will face Australia on Thursday, aiming to build on their good start. The other group game will be between Republic of Ireland and reigning Olympic Champions Canada.
