Nigeria administration in Nigeria needs more ex-players and educated minds according to former Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong.
Ekong, 32, called time on his international career in after 10 years and 83 caps for Nigeria. He revealed that he has started taking relevant courses made available by the English FA for players transiting in their careers.
The former Watford Center-half revealed his ambitions to run for office in the NFF albeit he did not give any specifics.
Proposing the need for more ex-players as decision makers in Nigerian football, Ekong insists that the experience garnered as Pro Athletes and available knowledge through education are important values.

‘I think for me now is the education part, because we have so many ex players that have a great understanding of the game.
‘I don’t think we have seen enough ex players getting involved from the top,’ he stated.
‘So for me in Nigerian football, it’s about finding ways that we can collaborate and enhance the federation right because we’ve been there, we’ve seen it and the generations ahead of me have done it.’
Future as a Coach
Ekong quickly distant himself from taking up a coaching job.
‘I have had so many people ask me about coaching the team, I’m not sure that is something that I really want to do, simply because I think that there also need to be players that think about going one level above that whether it is going to be in the boardroom, whether it is going to be working with Federations – with FIFA, with CAF, whether the NFF. And I think that’s probably where you can make the biggest change. It is a difficult landscape because in African football there’s also a lot of politics involved,’ He elaborated.
