Ipswich Town have announced the signing of striker Chuba Akpom on a season-long loan from Dutch giants Ajax.

The victory lifts Lille temporarily to second place in Ligue 1, pending the outcome of the Marseille vs Brest clash. If Marseille manages a win or a draw, they will reclaim second spot.

Akpom followed in the footsteps of Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon, and Terem Moffi, who also scored on their Ligue 1 debuts for Lille, Nantes, and FC Lorient, respectively.

The 29-year-old forward underwent his medical on Saturday and was in attendance as Lille secured a dominant 4-1 Ligue 1 victory over AS Saint-Étienne.

Unlike some of Nigeria’s traditional number nines, Akpom brings versatility to the attack. He can play as a center-forward, an attacking midfielder, or a right winger.
