Strickland took two scorecards 48-47, while Chimaev won the third 48-47.

The result ended Chimaev’s unbeaten 15-0 run and marks the first defeat of his MMA career.

At the post-fight press conference, Strickland claimed Chimaev missed weight for the title fight.
“He missed weight. I know, I should get 20 per cent of his purse,” he said.
For Strickland, it’s redemption after losing the belt to Dricus du Plessis in 2024.
