Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Greg Etafia has expressed confidence that Stanley Nwabali will soon secure a move to a new club this summer.
Speaking on the goalkeeper’s current situation, Etafia described Nwabali as a top goalkeeper who has continued to prove himself despite the circumstances surrounding his exit from Chippa United.
Etafia, however, maintained that the Super Eagles head coach should have invited Nwabali to camp.
He stressing that the goalkeeper is at a point in his career where he needs support.

According to Etafia, Nwabali training with his teammates, even without featuring in matches, would have been beneficial.
“Every player wants to play and Nwabali isn’t different from that,” Etafia asserted.
“Unfortunately, things happened to him at Chippa; he is a free agent now. There are lots of clubs looking at him.”
Etafia further stated that the Super Eagles coaching crew could still have included Nwabali in camp to help him maintain fitness and confidence.

“I think the goalkeeper coach and the head coach should have called up Nwabali to train with the team for the Unity Cup because of what he has done in the past.”
“Even if he is not among the first three goalkeepers, make him the fourth one to come to camp. He knows he isn’t going to play official games with the team, but the training will help him a lot.”

“For next season he will play. He is a top goalkeeper and has done so well for the Nigerian national team in the two AFCON tournaments he has played.
“He is the number one goalkeeper, but because he doesn’t have a club, I think the coaches feel they have options and want to give opportunities to others.”
Nwabali has been without a club since the start of the year after leaving Chippa United by mutual agreement.
The goalkeeper was previously linked with a move to Simba SC, but both parties failed to reach an agreement.
According to reports, the Super Eagles goalkeeper currently has offers on the table which he is reviewing ahead of next season.
