Manchester United announced their long-awaited return to the Champions League with a 4-0 victory over Azerbaijani champions, Sabah FK at Old Trafford, giving Michael Carrick's side the perfect European start ahead of Sunday's Manchester derby.


After 1,003 days away from Europe's top club competition, United finally returned to the Champions League on Thursday night and wasted little time reminding everyone of their attacking quality.

were all on target as United cruised to victory in their 300th Champions League match.


While tougher tests await in the league phase, the night gave Carrick's team a much-needed boost after an inconsistent start to the domestic campaign.
