Inter Milan 5-3 Udinese: Maduka Okoye Heroics Fail as Nerazzurri Complete Stunning Serie A Comeback

Inter Milan produced another remarkable comeback to defeat Udinese 5-3 at San Siro on Monday, in Serie A Matchday 4.

The defending champions overturned a two-goal deficit to maintain their perfect start, level on 12 points with Roma at the top of the table.

Udinese shocked the home crowd early. James Abankwah headed home unmarked in the 9th minute from Unai Gomez’s cross. Jurgen Ekkelenkamp made it 2-0 in the 16th minute with a close-range finish after Keinan Davis’s assist.

Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye stood tall for the visitors.

Shortly after the opener, he produced a superb double save to deny Marcus Thuram’s header and the follow-up rebound, keeping Udinese’s lead intact at a critical moment.

Okoye later denied Henrikh Mkhitaryan with a sharp stop and blocked a Carlos Augusto header. His reflexes and presence repeatedly frustrated Inter’s attacks.

Inter responded before the break. Carlos Augusto lashed a long-range strike into the bottom corner in the 26th minute. Nicolo Barella equalized in the 35th minute, recovering from a slip to fire past Okoye.

The second half belonged to the Nerazzurri. Marcus Thuram completed the turnaround in the 57th minute, finishing Andy Diouf’s cutback.

Pio Esposito made it 4-2 in the 67th minute with a composed finish after Piotr Zielinski’s pass.

Substitute Ange-Yoan Bonny added the fifth in the 79th minute, converting the rebound after Okoye saved his initial effort.

Idrissa Gueye scored a stoppage-time consolation for Udinese.

Despite Okoye’s outstanding display—praised as heroic and rated highly in match assessments—he could not stem Inter’s wave of pressure.

The Super Eagles shot-stopper made multiple crucial interventions but faced an overwhelming volume of high-quality chances from Cristian Chivu’s side.

Inter’s victory extended their perfect Serie A record and set up a top-of-the-table clash with Roma.
