Nigeria’s Super Falcons will kick off their 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations against rivals, South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.
In the tournament draw conducted in Cairo on Friday night, the defending champions, Nigeria, will lock horns with South Africa on the 4th of July.
This is a repetition of the group stage fixture at the last tournament in Ghana, where both sides faced off. The Banyana Banyana won by a single goal.
Both teams again met in the final where the Super Falcons eventually triumphed 4-3 on penalties to win their 9th title.
The Nine–time winners will then face Botswana in their second Group C game three days later, before wrapping up the first round with the game against Burundi on July 10.
This edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will be staged in Morroco between 2nd – 23rd July 2022.
All of the four semi finalists will represent Africa at the first–ever 32 –team FIFA Women’s World Cup finals.
