Sunshine Stars have cried blue murder following the 1-0 defeat to Shooting Stars in Sunday’s South-west Derby at the Lekan Salami Stadium Adamasingba, Ibadan.
Former Sunshine stars’ man Ajani scored the game’s only goal in the 8th minute in match the visitors claim was “marred by controversial officiating.”
Austin Eguavoen’s men were slow off the blocks and were duly punished for some sloppy defending.
But as the game wore on, Sunshine Stars grew in confidence and thought they had leveled in the 39th minute when Ebitimi Agogo put the ball in the back of the net from close range after 3SC goal keeper Adamu Abubakar had parried Thomas Adeshina shot into his path.
However the goal was “controversially” flagged off by the Assistance Referee II, Sonibare Sadiq.
Despite a number of stoppages, the visitors claim the match officials suspiciously refused to indicate additional time in the match.
The scoreline would remain unchanged until the final blast of the whistle giving Fatai Amoo some reprieve in the relegation battle.
Speaking after the game Amoo said, ” we expected a difficult game. This is expected in Derby games, but now we look to the next match.’
His opposite number though expressed frustrations with the officiating , “We scored a good goal, but it was chalked off by the Referee. We can’t complain now because the Ref has the final say.”
