Sports Minister Dare lauds gallant Eaglets, says they are Golden

Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Sunday Dare has praised Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets for their fighting spirit in Nigeria comeback victory over Ecuador on Tuesday night at the ongoing U17 world cup in Brazil.

Manu Garba’s boys came back from a goal down to beat Ecuador 3-2 courtesy Ibrahim Saidā€™s hattrick.

Nigeria scored their first goal as early as the fifth minute after capitalising on an error from Ecuador goalkeeper.

The South Americans then equalized in the 10th minute after a ball hit the bar and bounced off the back of Nigerian goalkeeper Daniel Jinadu into the net.

 

Ecuador however took the lead in the 51st minute while Manu Garba’s boys had to wait till 85th minute to get an equalizer through Said’s sublime finish.

Ibrahim Said was on hand again four minutes later to grab the winning goal and send Nigeria through to the round of 16.

 

Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare was however impressed with the performance of the boys, prompting him to take to his official Twitter account to praise the 5-times world cup winner.

”These boys are golden ! Youthful! Fighters ! They deliver! The Nigerian spirit back on again! Congratulations to these young ones. Nigeria 3 Ecuador 2ā€, he tweeted.

Nigeria are currently on top of Group B with 6 pointsĀ  and will face Australia in their last group game on Friday, November 1.
