Genk and Nigeria international Steven Odey is fast assuming the big brother role in Belgium despite been in his very first season in the Belgian Jupiler League.
Odey speaking in a chat with brila.net said his move to Belgium has been good so far for him and currently settling in well into the league. He revealed that he was on ground to welcome compatriot Paul Onuachu when the big Nigerian striker joined from Danish Super Lig side FC Midtjylland.
He also added that he was the first to show Onuachu around and locates spots where he can reminisce home feelings with African food.
“It’s been a good and interesting move for me. So I am happy about moving to Belgium. I am settled and I have also been there to welcome and show Onuachu around.”
He also joked about former Belgium based Taiwo Awoniyi been his boy, a statement Awoniyi confirmed revealing that Odey is a big name in Belgium at the moment.
“I am his boy, Steven Odey is a big name in Belgium at the moment.”
Steven Odey will hope to make Genk’s trip to Taiwo Awoniyi’s former Belgian Jupiler league side Charleroi on Friday evening.
