David Okereke and Dennis Emmanuel have moved one step closer, with Club Brugge, to reaching the UEFA Champions League group stage following a 1-0 victory over LASK Linz in Austria.
Okereke, who is Brugge’s top goalscorer this season, is yet to open his goal account in the UCL and was once again frustrated on Tuesday night.
While he got 89 minutes of action – coming off for Diatta Krépin – , his compatriot Emmanuel played the entire duration as Brugge defended a narrow 1-0 lead to pick up a first-leg advantage.
Brugge took the lead in the opening 10 minutes from a Hans Vanaken penalty.
Blauw-Zwart, who were runners up in the 1977-78 season, will return to the Jan Breydel Stadium and hope to wrap up qualification for competition proper.

In his post-game presser, Brugge Manager, Philippe Clement said, “We have to go full steam ahead again next week. We are counting on our fanatical supporters in a swirling Jan Breydel stadium.”
