Super Eagles Superstar, John Ogu has distanced himself for reports linking him to Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor.
The Anambra born midfield maestro, was a legend and cult hero at Hapoel beer’sheva, the Israeli powerhouse where he won every title available in the country and made several appearances in the UCL and Europa competitions, often times, carrying the team squarely on his shoulders as he was not just an integral figure but a key player of the club.
“I was never in talks with the club. I have several offers on the table but none came from Trabzonspor so I don’t understand where the rumor, linking with the club emanated from” said Ogu.
With his record as one of the most prolific goalscoring midfield players in Nigeria, his announcement of his exit of his former club, naturally picked the interests of many clubs from different leagues.
Ogu has nothing but respect and love for Mikel Obi who is an elder brother to him both figuratively and natively and therefore wishes him the very best on his new challenge.
“Mikel is my brother and my big brother at that so I am very happy for him. He has been inspirational to me both on and off them pitch so I am elated at this development as he richly deserves it” said the Orumba superstar.
Ogu is focused to helping Nigeria win the AFCON and has outcome hold, on contractual talks till after the competition, when he can sit down with prospective clubs and figure out whose vision and mission, matches his.
Ogu is one of the few utility midfielders on the planet who can offer protection for the back for, play the supporting striker role, can be deployed in the attacking midfielder position and can even be played out of position as a center back or wing back as proven by Rohr.
But regardless of who or where he plays, one thing is without question and that is the fact that Ogu plays his heart out for his team and is a fantastic team player.
