Nigeria will surely play a high profile friendly against a top country before the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Cameroon on 28 August according to NFF Board member, Ibrahim Gusau.

Gusau said though the decision has not been discussed on the board, but the FA is looking at several options and has opened talks as well.

Nigeria will play an exhibition game against Corsica later this month ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa next month.

Although he’ll not confirm the team most likely to be named, Gusau told brila.net that the certainty of playing an international friendly match before the 28 August ( first-leg) date against Cameroon was without a doubt.

Nigeria will face Cameroon in a double header – August 28 and September 1 – but the only available FIFA approved window for friendlies or International matches before the first leg is between the 5-13 of June.

Meanwhile, the African champions will join seven other teams in Russia for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, which gets underway on 17 June.
