Super Eagles and Chanchung Yatai striker Odion Ighalo is aiming high as he gets set for his maiden appearance at the World Cup with Nigeria.
The China-based striker has said that lifting the much-coveted World Cup trophy remains his ‘ultimate goal’ at the tournament.
The 28-year-old who captained the country to the U20 World Cup in 2009, will make his debut in the global tournament which starts on June 14, in Russia.
And he states that, like ‘every player’ for their country, he aims to help the Super Eagles win the biggest trophy in football.
“I used to play in the youth World Cup, but [this is my first time] participating in the actual World Cup…winning the cup is every player’s ultimate goal, including mine,” Ighalo told Chinese tabloid, Xinhuanet.
Odion Ighalo is expected to lead the Super Eagles attack in the Group D opener against Croatia on 16t June.
