Salomon Rondon admits he is “devastated” after his challenge with Everton midfielder James McCarthy left the latter with a double leg break.
Rondo was seen in tears after the incident that overshadowed the 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.
The Venezuelan Striker has revealed his sympathy for his fellow player and wished him a speedy recovery.
“I am absolutely devastated after such an unfortunate incident,” Rondon said in a statement on the Baggies’ official website. “I feel really sorry for James.
“Rivalries are forgotten about when a colleague suffers such an unlucky injury.
“Even if the move had resulted in a goal, I would have preferred not to score if it meant an opponent avoided suffering such a terrible injury.
“I wish James a speedy recovery and hope to see him back playing again soon.”
Absolutely devastated. Rivalries are forgotten about when a colleague suffers such an unlucky injury. Really hope to see you back playing again soon, @JMcCarthy_16.#GetWellSoonJames pic.twitter.com/pamazH8fCO
