Brighton to table a second bid for Gent’s Nigerian attacker Moses Simon

Brighton and Hove Albion is expected to table a second bid for Nigerian attacker Moses Simon after Gent refused their first offer.

Brighton’s first offer for Simon which was rumoured to be in the region of £8.4m was rejected by the Belgium side, who are not keen on letting the winger leave on a cheap.

Simon who turned 21 today is valued in the region of £13m by Gent despite the forward having just two years to run on his current deal.

Brighton is hopeful that Simon’s desire to move to England will help their course to lure him.

KAA Gent is also facing the prospect of losing their bargaining point at the end of this season, as the forward who has 11 caps for Nigeria will have just one year left on his contract, and so far he has refused to extend his contract beyond 2019.

The scorer of five goals for Gent last season told the portal yesterday that rumours of a move to French Ligue 1 side Lyon are wide off the mark.

But he, however, confirmed to voetbalmagazine of his wish to move if a deal which will best suit his career is tabled by interested parties, considerably Brighton.

On 6 January 2015, it was announced that KAA Gent had signed Moses Simon to a 3-year contract.

He made his debut for Gent on 17 January 2015 in a 3–1 victory over Royal Mouscron-Péruwelz in league play.

His second appearance occurred four days later in a 1–0 home win over Sporting Lokeren in the Belgian Cup, in which Simon was dismissed 30 seconds after he entered the field.

In his third league game, again versus Sporting Lokeren, Simon netted a hattrick after which he was named Belgian league player of the week.

He quickly became instrumental in coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck‘s formation and helped Gent win their first ever National Championship title in May 2015.
