Report: Man City striker Sergio Aguero ‘fainted’ during Argentina, Nigeria friendly

Manchester City have been given a scare after Sergio Aguero reportedly fainted at half-time of Argentina’s international friendly with Nigeria.

The Blues striker didn’t come out for the second-half of the match being played in the Russian city of Krasnodar.

According to reports from Argentinian broadcaster Tyc Sports, Aguero fainted in the dressing room during half-time and was taken to a local hospital for a checkup where he regained consciousness.

The Argentine Football Federation later tweeted that ‘he had a picture of lipotimia’ and was ‘transferred to perform routine studies just as a precaution.

Lipotimia is a spontaneous loss of consciousness caused by insufficient blood to the brain, and is more traditionally known as fainting.

It was a traumatic turn to what should have been another night of celebration for Aguero after he scored to overtake Hernan Crespo as La Albiceleste’s third highest scorer of all time with 36 goals.
