Olumide Edith Agoye, ex- player of the Shooting Stars Football Club (3SC) has been confirmed as the new Head Coach of the team for the next football season.
Agoye was the Chief Coach under Fatai Amoo as the Technical Adviser in the last dispensation.
The decision to confirm Agoye as the Head Coach was taken by the club management after an exhaustive interview session involving several coaches.
The club’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Gbolagade Busari said the management settled for Agoye primarily because of his knowledge of the composition of the team and to maintain continuity in the development of the young players who will form the fulcrum of the new Shooting Stars.
“Majority of our players are from the feeders and to continue to inspire their development, we felt Agoye is in a good position to continue their development,” Mr. Busari said in a statement issued on Thursday in Ibadan.
He further said the mandate give to the new Head Coach is to work assiduously to return the team to the elite of the Nigeria Premier League.
Meanwhile, Salisu Yusuf, Assistant Coach of the Super Eagles on Thursday said that Argentina is a beatable side.
Yusuf made the assertion in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja ahead of the Nov. 14 friendly match against the former world champions in Russia. The coach said that the Super Eagles were capable of reversing the series of defeats suffered at the hands of the South Americans by beating them in Russia this time around.
He assured Nigerians of an impressive outing against Argentina in the warm-up match aimed at boosting the morale of not only the players but their fans for World Cup. Prestige friendly match will be one in the series lined up to familiarise Nigerian players with the playing style of their likely opponents at the World Cup.
