CAF President Ahmad heads for Ghana, major decisions on African football expected

CAF president Ahmad is expected to arrive in Accra on Thursday ahead of an Executive Committee meeting and the WAFU Nations Cup final, both in the weekend.

The football governing body CAF ‘s Executive Committee will be in Ghana from Thursday for a meeting to discuss pertinent issues confronting African football.

A CAF Executive Committee meeting will be held in Accra on Saturday, September 23 where some key decisions on African football will be taken.

The WAFU Cup final will be staged on Sunday in Cape Coast, while the CAF executive committee will meet in Accra the previous day.

Nigeria and Ghana have already qualified for the semi-final on Thursday, while all four teams in Group B – Niger, Senegal, Benin and Cote d’Ivoire – are still in with a chance to advance to the last-four tonight.

The WAFU Cup has enjoyed a revival with a new sponsorship from FoxSports Television.

The overall winners of the sub-regional tournament will earn a prize money of $100,000.

The entire delegation will then travel to Cape Coast where they will watch the final match of the ongoing WAFU Cup of Nations tournament on Sunday.

The CAF delegation is expected to depart on September 25.
