Report: Atlético Madrid agrees €45million deal with Chelsea for Diego Costa

Atlético Madrid and Chelsea have reached an agreement for the transfer of Diego Costa, according to Radio Estadio, a programme on the Spanish station, Onda Cero.

The report states that Atlético the  will pay €45 million with a potential further 10 million euros in add ons to return the Spanish international to their ranks, although there are still issues between the player and the London club.

Atlético will not pay the transfer value until both Costa and Chelsea have resolved their differences.

The player has so far refused to return from Brazil to train with the Stamford Bridge squad, basing it on “a lack of respect” shown to him putting him with the youth team.

For his no-show he has already accumulated £300,000 in fines and Atleti will await the resolution to this dispute first.

However, they want the Brazil-born forward to join them in the January window.

This would cause a big problem for Chelsea and their manager Antonio Conte who have wiped their hands of the striker.

Costa is in self-imposed exile back in Brazil and his manager has no desire to see him return.

Costa has badmouthed the club publicly and that prompted Conte to laugh at the striker’s accusations in a recent press conference.
