Galatasaray vice president, Abdullah Kavukcu has provided an update on Victor Osimhen’s future, suggesting the striker could remain at the Turkish club despite interests from Europe’s top sides.
Osimhen joined the Turkish champions on loan from Serie A side Napoli in September.
Many expected the 25-year-old to land in the Premier League or return to Serie A with another heavyweight.
However, the switch to Galatasaray has paid off handsomely for both the club and the player.
Osimhen has hit top form, scoring 28 goals and registering five assists in 32 appearances across all competitions under head coach Okan Buruk.
His form has helped push Galatasaray to the brink of another Super Lig title.
Several European giants including Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, PSG, Nottingham, and Juventus are reportedly keen to land the Nigerian this summer.
Despite the intense interest, Galatasaray’s hierarchy isn’t ruling out the possibility of keeping Osimhen beyond the end of the season.
“Osimhen will announce his decision in April. At the moment, five of the world’s top clubs are interested in him. His arrival here was a dream he came, and for now, he is playing with us. In January, there was talk of a transfer, but he stayed,” Kavukcu said in quotes published by the Mirror.
“He loves Galatasaray very much. Right now, he is the dream of all our rivals. Although we are focused on winning the title, we have not had direct discussions with Victor yet.”
Kavukcu added: “There is no point in talking about it now. Galatasaray are a top-level club – if it weren’t, Victor wouldn’t have come. His stay at Galatasaray is not as impossible as it may seem.”
