Southampton finally ended their 13-match winless run as Nigerian duo Joe Aribo and Paul Onuachu found the net in a vital 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
Heading into their 24th league game of the season, Southampton were desperate for a turnaround in their Premier League campaign.
Manager Ivan Juric has shown faith in Nigerian duo Aribo and Onuachu, and both repaid his trust with crucial goals.
Ipswich started brightly, dominating possession and testing Gavin Bazunu early. Julio Enciso was particularly dangerous, forcing the Southampton goalkeeper into three saves within the opening 18 minutes.
However, Southampton struck first. A loose ball in the box fell to Aribo, who showed composure to fire home a first-time volley in the 21st minute.
Ipswich responded ten minutes later with Liam Delap equalizer, but Onuachu had the final say.
Three minutes from time, the towering striker pounced on a rebound after Arijanet Muric spilled a shot, slotting home the winner to secure all three points for the Saints.
A Long-Awaited Win
This victory marked Southampton’s first league win since November 2024, snapping a frustrating 13-match winless run. Despite the crucial result, they remain at the bottom of the table with just nine points from 24 matches.

Onuachu, who now has two goals this season, and Aribo, with three, will be key figures in Southampton’s survival battle as Juric looks to inspire a late-season resurgence.
Elsewhere in the Premier League, Super Eagles defender Ola Aina was one of Nottingham Forest’s standout performers as they responded to last week’s 5-0 defeat with a stunning 7-0 demolition of Brighton.
Chris Wood stole the show with a hat-trick, helping Forest strengthen their grip on third place in the league.
Meanwhile, league leaders Liverpool extended their advantage at the top, riding on a Mohamed Salah brace to secure a 2-0 win at Bournemouth, opening up a nine-point gap over their closest rivals.
