‘Worst in Club’s History’ – Ruben Amorim Brands His Manchester United Side

Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim delivered a damning assessment of his struggling team, labeling them “maybe the worst in the club’s history” following their 3-1 home loss to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

United failed to produce a single shot on target from open play at Old Trafford as Brighton controlled the match, handing the Red Devils’ 10th Premier League its defeat of the season and Amorim’s fourth home league loss since replacing Erik ten Hag in October.

“We are getting a new coach who is losing more than the last coach,” Amorim admitted post-match.

“I know we can succeed, but we need to survive this moment. I am not naive. We are the worst team, maybe, in the history of Manchester United.”

The defeat, which follows a narrow 3-1 win over bottom-placed Southampton, leaves United 13th in the table, only five places and 10 points clear of the relegation zone.

Amorim, who has lost seven of his first 15 matches in charge, acknowledged the stark reality facing the team.

“Everybody here is underperforming. t’s unacceptable to lose so many games. For any Premier League club, imagine Manchester United,” Amorim continued.

It’s a really hard moment, but we have to continue, there is no other way.”

Brighton capitalized on United’s defensive frailties, scoring three times and having another goal ruled out by VAR.

Ruben Amorim, who previously oversaw positive results against Liverpool and Arsenal, stressed the need for his players to rise to the challenge against smaller sides after subpar performances against Southampton and Brighton.

United’s next five league fixtures are against teams in the bottom half of the table, including Fulham and Crystal Palace.

However, Amorim cautioned that more tough times may lie ahead if the team fails to improve.

“We have to acknowledge where we are, accept it, and fight to turn things around,” he said.

“This is Manchester United—we have to be better.”
