Nigerian Striker Olanrewaju Kayode Joins Erokspor in Turkish First League Nigerian Striker Olanrewaju Kayode Joins Erokspor in Turkish First League

Nigeria international Olanrewaju Kayode has completed a move to Turkish TFF First League club Esenler Erokspor from Şanlıurfaspor.

The 31-year-old forward spent just six months at Şanlıurfaspor after arriving on a free transfer last summer. During his brief stint, Kayode impressed with seven goals and two assists in 15 league appearances, showcasing his attacking prowess.

Upon signing with Erokspor, Kayode expressed his excitement at the new challenge ahead.

“It’s an incredible feeling to be an Esenler Erokspor player, and I cannot wait to walk out at the stadium wearing the shirt. I know that I’m joining the club at an important time; everyone I’ve spoken to has the same ambition for us to win together, and I can feel the determination to achieve that.”

Erokspor, promoted to the TFF First League as champions of the TFF Second League last season, have struggled in their new division and currently sit in the relegation zone with 23 points.

Kayode will be tasked with helping the club avoid relegation and secure their league status by the end of the campaign. His vast experience across various leagues, including stints in Austria, England, Ukraine, and Spain, positions him as a valuable addition to Erokspor’s squad.

The highlight of Kayode’s career came in 2017 when he signed for Manchester City from Austria Vienna in a €3.8 million deal. However, he never made an appearance for the English side, as he was immediately loaned to Girona in Spain.

Internationally, Kayode represented Nigeria at the U17 and U20 levels before earning three senior caps for the Super Eagles, with his last appearance coming in 2017.

Erokspor will hope Kayode’s experience and goal-scoring ability can help them climb out of the relegation zone and secure a strong finish to their season.
