Odion Ighalo is having his worst season in pro football in 14 years and the 35 year-old might be on his last dance.

This season, Ighalo has only managed to find the back of the net 3 times in 12 appearances across all competitions for Al Wehda.

Still a starter at the Saudi Pro League side, the former Manchester United forward has not scored in five matches and all Wehda are winless in their last seven matches.

Ighalo joined the club as a free agent last season and his contract runs out next August.

The Nigerian’s influence has waned and this season even less with his average goal contribution now dropped to an all-time low.

With just 2 goals in 10 league matches in Saudi Arabia, Ighalo is posting similar figures he did as a 25 year-old in his final season at Granada (16 apps 2 goals).

The last time he posted single digits in goals for a league campaign was after he completed his move from Manchester United to Al Shabab.

He joined the club mid-season and still posted a return of 9 goals in 13 outings.

Odion Ighalo was a late bloomer, and once he came into his own, the Forward filled his once empty trophy cabinet with several individual and team honors – both for club and country.

With the curtains winding down on an impressive career, the Nigerian star will hope to end his time at Al Wehda with a parting gift, by helping them avoid relegation.

Al Wehda lost 3-2 at home to Damac in Saturday’s Saudi Pro League match leaving them in relegation waters after 10 round of matches. Ighalo was subbed off after 86 minutes.

The way back up might prove daunting, but their veteran Striker could lift the club with 24 matches left to go.
