The Nigeria women’s cricket team is just one victory away from securing a spot at the 2025 ICC U-19 Women’s World Cup in Malaysia.
The Junior Female Yellow Greens will face Zimbabwe in the final of the Africa Division 1 qualifiers, held in Kigali, Rwanda, competing for the second African berth in the global tournament.
Nigeria advanced to the final after defeating hosts Rwanda by 62 runs in a semi-final clash on Saturday.
In the other semi-final, Zimbabwe overcame Uganda with a 75-run victory, setting up an exciting rematch between the two teams.
The Sunday’s final will is Nigeria’s second encounter with Zimbabwe in the tournament, having narrowly beaten them by one wicket during the group stages.
A win in the final will not only ensure Nigeria’s qualification for the World Cup but will also mark the nation’s second appearance at any cricket World Cup.
If successful, Nigeria will join South Africa as Africa’s representatives at the 2025 ICC U-19 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place from January 18 to February 2, 2025, in Malaysia.
