North Korea emerged the champions of FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup after defeating Japan 1-0 in the final in Bogotá, on Sunday.

The victory ties North Korea with Germany and the United States as the tournament’s most decorated nations, each having won three titles.

Nigeria’s journey in the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup came to an end after a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Japan in the round of 16.

The Nadeshiko of Japan advanced to the finals in the All-Asian match.

The only goal of the match came in the 15th minute from Choe Il-son, who finished the competition as the top scorer with six goals, earning her the prestigious Golden Boot.

North Korea, won every game in Colombia and completed their unbeaten streak to lift the title.
