Team Nigeria’s Esther Ogechi Nworgu secured the silver medal in the women’s 41kg Para-Powerlifting event at the ongoing Paris Paralympic Games.

Nworgu impressed with lifts of 112kg and 118kg, setting two new Paralympic records in the process.

Despite the Nigerian’s brilliance, the event’s gold medal was claimed by China’s Zhe Cui.

Zhe Cui set a new Paralympic record with a 119kg lift.

Following Wednesday’s victory, Esther Nworgu became the second Team Nigeria Athlete to secure a medal at the Paris Games.

Her feat comes after Mariam Bolaji’s bronze in Para Badminton.
