Chuba Akpom was in high spirits after playing a pivotal role in Ajax’s 4-1 triumph over Polish club, Jagiellonia Białystok in a UEFA Europa League playoff, on Thursday night.

The Nigerian-born striker delivered an outstanding performance, scoring a hat-trick that propelled the Eredivisie giants closer to the group stage of the competition.

Akpom’s first goal came as an equalizer in the first half, followed by two more strikes after the break, sealing a comfortable win for Ajax.

Reflecting on his performance, Akpom couldn’t hide his excitement.

“It’s amazing. I thank God. I thank my teammates and all the staff for all the support. I had my best match in an Ajax shirt today (Thursday), so I’m happy,” the Forward expressed in an interview with Ajax TV.

Chuba Akpom, who has had a keen eye for goals throughout his career, acknowledged the challenges he faced when goals were hard to come by, but remained optimistic and grateful for the trust placed in him.

“Scoring is what I thrive on; it’s what I love to do, so when it’s not happening, it gets frustrating. But I’m a very positive and persistent person, so I say thank you to the coach for the trust,” he added.
