Super Eagles winger Simon Moses featured prominently in Nantes’ first Ligue 1 match of the season, against Toulouse on Sunday.
Simon, who retained his place in the starting lineup, played a key role in helping the team secure a valuable away point.
Despite suffering a serious injury towards the end of last season, Simon made a strong return to action, displaying sharpness and determination throughout the game.
The winger attempted two shots on goal and delivered three consecutive crosses before being substituted in the 70th minute by Mustafa Mohammed.
The match ended in a goalless draw, with both sides sharing the spoils.
This result extends Nantes’ winless streak in opening Ligue 1 fixtures, with the team failing to secure a victory in their season opener since the 2016-17 campaign, when they defeated Dijon 1-0.
Nantes has now gone eight consecutive opening games without a win.
Moreover, Nantes has struggled to find the back of the net in three of their last five season openers, each of those matches ending in a 0-0 draw.
This trend continued in the 2024 opener against Toulouse, adding to the club’s challenge of starting the season on a strong note.
