Favour Ofili has become the first Nigerian woman in 28 years to qualify for the final of the 200m at the Olympics.

Ofili, 21, came second in her heat with a season best time of 22.05 seconds behind Julien Alfred with 21.98 seconds.

The last Nigerian to achieve this was Mary Onyali, who won a bronze medal at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics.

Ofili will now have the chance to compete for her first-ever Olympic medal tomorrow at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
