Super Falcons midfielder Jennifer Echegini has confirmed her departure from Juventus, in the Italian Women’s Serie A league.

Echegini, who joined the Bianconere in the January transfer window, is six months into the two year contract she signed with the club.

However, she has chosen to terminate her contract with the five-time Italian champions due to personal reasons.

Reports suggest that Echegini has faced challenges adapting to life in Italy and the style of Italian football.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Echegini expressed her gratitude for her time with Juventus. “I wanted to take this moment and share my gratitude for the time we have shared,” she wrote.

“Despite all that may have been said, I’m extremely grateful to have been a part of this family. Living and playing in Turin has been an amazing journey filled with a lot of growing and learning for me. I will cherish these memories and carry them on to my next journey.”

She further thanked her teammates and coaches, adding, “Thank you to my teammates and coaches for making me feel a part of the family.

“Working alongside dedicated and inspiring women has been the most rewarding experience.”

Echegini’s departure is a big blow to Juventus Femminile team as they prepare for the upcoming season.

The Nigerian scored 10 goals in 14 appearances, and was named in the team of the year as Juventus finished second.
