Following a crucial board meeting in Abuja, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has announced plans to overhaul their football management in response to the recent underperformance of the Super Eagles.
George Aluo, the NNL chairman and member of the NFF executive committee, revealed in a chat with www.brila.net that the federation has decided to appoint a foreign technical adviser to work alongside current head coach, Finidi George.
Despite recent poor results, Finidi has not been sacked.
“The most important thing is that the boards have apologized to Nigerians for the poor run of the Super Eagles in the last two matches that we played,” the NFF Chief said. “We are very sorry that we didn’t get the results that we wanted to give to Nigerians.”
“But all the same, we have equally gone back to work to ensure that we pick up the bits and pieces as well as the work-up race is concerned. It’s not all lost.
“If we win our six games moving forward, we’ll still have a chance of possibly sneaking into US, Mexico and Canada in 2026. So we’re giving it everything.”
Aluo emphasized that the NFF is committed to making the necessary adjustments to improve the team’s performance.
This includes the strategic move to appoint an expatriate technical adviser who will collaborate with Finidi George in an effort to strengthen the team’s technical and tactical capabilities:
“We will rejig a few things. We’ll get a foreign technical advisor to now work with Finidi George. Nobody has signed Finidi George but we’ll get a foreign technical advisor to work with him as a way of redoubling our efforts.
“No names have been floated and we are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that we do our best to see how we can pick up the bits and pieces moving forward.”
