Following a stunning performance by Ademola Lookman, who became the first African player to score a hat-trick in a UEFA final, the Super Eagles player has been tipped to win the CAF Player of the Year award.

Atalanta thrashed Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 to end their 51-game unbeaten streak and win the Europa League final for the first time in their history.

Lookman scored twice in the first half of the final before completing his hat-trick in the second half, securing the historic win for Atalanta.

In celebration of this achievement, Super Eagles captain Kenneth Omuruo tagged the CAF official page on Twitter with the caption, “@CAF_Online your African Player of the Year, Ademola Lookman, top player.”

The 26-year-old scored three goals with 1 assist at AFCON 2023 and appears to be leading the race for the CAF Player of the Year award.
