NFF President Reveals Finidi George’s Contract Details

Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), confirmed that newly appointed Super Eagles head coach Finidi George was handed a two-year contract, dispelling earlier conflicting reports about the terms of his engagement.

Finidi George was officially introduced to the media as Super Eagles head coach on Monday.

Initial reports varied, with some suggesting a performance-based twelve-month contract and others indicating a two-year agreement.

Gusau, appearing on the popular football television show “Soccer Africa” in South Africa on Thursday evening, set the record straight.

He confirmed that Finidi’s contract extends for two years, and not one year.

“I don’t know where the one year contract information emanated from, all I know is that, as far as our contract with Finidi is concerned, he is going to be in charge of the team till the end of 2026, so I don’t think 2026 is going to be a one year contract,” He said.

The coach is expected to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and aim for at least a semi-final finish.
