Rangers manager, Philippe Clement has lauded the influential role played by Leon Balogun in their 2-0 triumph over Hearts in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
Balogun, who was making his first start since February, was paired with John Souttar in central defence.
The 33-year-old showcased his experience and composure, making a significant contribution to the Gers’ defensive solidity.
Speaking about Balogun’s performance Clement said, “I think he [Leon Balogun] was massive today. He played a really good game, showing his quality in both coaching and duels with his hunger and desire. I know I have four really good centre-backs, and this season they have all played.”
Clement went on to emphasize the collective effort needed from the team in their pursuit of the league title, adding, “That is a thing for the next couple of weeks as a team performance and all going forward together in this chase for the title.”
Leon Balogun’s return to form and fitness could prove pivotal for Rangers as they aim to secure the title in the remaining matches of the season as well as the final of the Scottish Cup.
