African Games: Genesis, Ogunsanya Strike Gold For Team Nigeria

In a spectacular display, Nigeria triumphed at the ongoing African Games, in Accra, securing two additional gold medals.

The day kicked off with Anuoluwapo Opeyori, the African badminton champion, clinching a gold medal for Team Nigeria.

 

Mercy Genesis showcased dominance in the women’s 50kg Freestyle event, leaving her Egyptian opponent Nada Mohamed no room for mercy. Genesis secured the gold with an impressive 7-0 victory.

Adding to the triumph, African Champion Christiana Ogunsanya claimed Nigeria’s third gold medal by defeating Yamma Bakayoko 11-0 (Technical Superiority) in the final of the women’s wrestling 55kg.

In a commendable effort, Victor Ikechukwu and Dorcas Adesokan secured bronze medals in the men’s and women’s singles, while Sofiat Obanisola and Dorcas clinched bronze in the women’s doubles.
