Rivers United got their CAF Confederation Cup campaign back on track with a hard fought 2-3 win over Academica of Angola.
The Pride of Rivers traveled to Angola desperately in need of the maximum points to stay alive in the Group.
Stanley Eguma’s side had to recover from a goal down to lead 1-3 before the hosts pulled on back.
The win took the Nigerian club to nine points and third on the Group C log.
Rivers United still need defeat Ghanaian side Dream FC on March 3, in Uyo to stand a chance of advancing to the next round of the competition.
The former Nigerian Champions must also advance to the knockout stage of the competition in order to help keep the country’s coefficient of four teams in CAF Inter Club Competitions.
