The Super Eagles of Nigeria failed to win the 2023 African Cup of Nations after losing 2-1 to hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the final.
The Peseiro’s side who are chasing their fourth title took the lead in the first half, only to conceed the twice in the second half.
William Troost-Ekong put the Eagles ahead with a header from corner taken by Ademola Lookman.
The Ivorians however levelled in the 63rd minutes, thanks to Franck Kessie’s header.
Sebastien Haller beat William Troost-Ekong to a ball from the right to complet the come back with less than 14 minutes left on the clock.
Following the defeat, the Super Eagles have now lost five finals and Jose Peseiro failed to become the first Portuguese gaffer to win the trophy.
