Musa adamant Super Eagles Can Win 2023 AFCON Despite Guinea loss

Captain Ahmed Musa reaffirmed the strong determination of the Super Eagles to excel at the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The three time African Champions concluded preparations for the tournament with 0-2 defeat against Syli National of Guinea in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

The results has raised doubt about the team’s ability to go all the way and win the tournament.

Despite the poor outing, Musa, a key member of the 2013 AFCON-winning squad, expressed confidence in the team’s quality and their potential to clinch the title in Cote d’Ivoire.

“We have the quality to win it, if you see the players in the 25-man squad, you can’t say we are not going to win.

“You know in football anything can happen, but we have the mindset to win it.

“The coach has already said his target is to win the AFCON and by God’s grace we are going to win it.”

Nigeria has been drawn into Group A alongside hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles will kick off their campaign against Equatorial Guinea’s Nzalang Nacional on Sunday, January 14.
