Victor Osimhen has expressed the unwavering determination of the Super Eagles to clinch victory in the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), aiming to compensate for the disappointment of missing out on the FIFA World Cup.
Super Eagles faced a setback by failing to qualify for the last FIFA World Cup in Qatar, succumbing to defeat against Ghana over two legs.
However, the team has rallied since then, successfully securing qualification for the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.
Drawn into Group A alongside Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea for the first round, Nigeria is one of the pre tournament favorites.
Osimhen said the Eagles are eager to make their mark on the continental stage again.
“We are capable of winning this tournament because the squad is packed with players who are performing exceptionally well for their European clubs,” says Osimhen.
“All of us are desperate to make up for failing to reach the 2022 World Cup. The only way we can achieve that goal is by winning the Cup of Nations.”The Napoli’s forward concluded.
