Nigerian football star, Victor Boniface will miss the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire with.
Despite being part of Nigeria’s final 25-player squad, Boniface was compelled to withdraw due to a groin injury sustained during the team’s training camp in Dubai.
The in-form player is set to return to his club for specialized treatment, casting a shadow over his participation in the prestigious tournament.
This unfortunate development comes on the heels of Boniface’s absence from the U20 AFCON earlier, where he also faced injury woes.
Expressing his disappointment, Boniface shared his thoughts on social media, stating, “U20 nations cup got injured 7 days before nations cup. Super eagles got injured 6 days before Nations cup. Only GOD Knows why,” in a post on his X account.
Adding to the list of withdrawals, Boniface joins Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi as the latest players to be sidelined from the Nigerian squad.
