Striker, Victor Boniface has emerged as a significant doubt for Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign, due to a suspected muscle injury.

The 23-year-old was notably absent from the Nigeria’s friendly match against Guinea in Dubai, Monday.

Boniface also sat out the test game against Al Gharbia of the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.

Accordig to sources, the Player picked up the injury during a training session, and the extent of it is yet uncertain, prompting concerns about his availability for the upcoming AFCON campaign.

The Bayer Leverkusen star has undergone a scan to assess the severity of the injury, and this setback compounds the challenges for Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro as he worries over the availability of another forward, Kelechi Iheanacho.
